The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), zonal office in Kaduna as made public in a statement that it has recovered the sum of #227 million in the last seven month.
According to the Head of Operations of the zone, Ibrahim Bappa.
Bappa in the statement said the sum is made up of #221,336,885.06 and $17,600 ( around #6.4 million)which were recovered from various person under investigation by the agency.
He also said the agency has screened 865 suspects, arrested 220 from the petitions received, 130 had been referred for further investigation, 10 case under prosecution in court while 80 others transfered to sister agencies.
Bappa further disclosed that the agency is having high expectation of prosecution of financial crimes with the cooperation of the Judiciary in Kaduna state.
On the #49 million recovered at Kaduna International Airport in March, he said they have gotten an interim forfeiture to the federal government.
“The zone also wishes to seize this opportunity to inform members of the public to be wary of fake facebook accounts of the acting chairman of the commission fraudulently designed to dupe unsuspecting victims.
