News: Mom of Gnewzy Calls on His Kidnappers to Release Him

Goodnews Emuemu, popularly known as Gnewzy, is a fast-rising Nigerian singer. His mother has pleaded with his captors to free him. According to Naija News, Gnewzy, who is signed to Eric Many Records, was kidnapped early on Monday, April 29, 2024, while returning from a gig. The manager of the artist, Obas9ice, who barely survived the incident, claimed that three armed individuals wearing police uniforms approached them on Eklat Road in the Ughelli region of the state. It was reported that shortly after the singer was taken away, the kidnappers emailed the record label, demanding a $200,000 ransom.

Dayo Showemimo, the project coordinator for the record label, confirmed the event and said in a statement that they were presently coordinating with law enforcement to make sure Gnewzy returned safely. The artist's safe return is something the company is urging the public to help with by sharing any information they may have. In a video that went viral, the distressed mother, unable to control her sobs, begged the kidnapper to free her only son with her hands on her head.
